Professional upholstery cleaning is a specialized technological process of deep cleaning textile and mixed upholstery materials in furniture using professional chemical agents, dedicated equipment, and regulated methods. Its purpose is to remove dirt, odors, and biological residues without damaging the fabric structure or the internal filling.
Unlike household cleaning, professional upholstery cleaning is not limited to surface washing or wiping. It is based on a technical understanding of upholstery composition (fibers, dyes, protective treatments), types of contamination (grease, proteins, tannins, pigments), and how materials react to moisture, alkaline agents, acidic agents, and solvents.
The procedure consists of several mandatory stages. First, a technical assessment is carried out to identify the type of fabric (synthetic, natural, or blended), color fastness, level of wear, and depth of contamination. Based on this assessment, suitable cleaning agents are selected according to their pH level and mode of action. Professional products may be enzymatic, alkaline, acidic, or neutral, depending on the type of contamination.
Cleaning is performed using injection-extraction systems, encapsulation technology, low-moisture methods, or a combination of these techniques. Contaminants are dissolved and extracted from the fabric structure along with accumulated dust, allergens, sweat residues, grease, and microorganisms. After the main cleaning stage, a technical rinse is applied, often with an acidic neutralizer, to remove chemical residues and stabilize the fibers.
The final stage includes controlled drying and, when required, additional treatments such as deodorization, antibacterial and anti-allergen treatment, odor neutralization, or the application of protective upholstery coatings.
The result of professional upholstery cleaning is not merely a visual improvement, but the restoration of the furniture’s hygienic condition, an extension of the upholstery’s service life, and preservation of its appearance without the risk of deformation, marks, or damage typical of non-professional cleaning.
